Here at LHSF&YS I am working on a new software package called Freemed-YiRC. When completed, this package will replace and supercede the way we currently
work! It's a 'web application', meaning it looks and feels like you're using
the WWW on the Internet! Anyone familiar with the point-and-click aspects of
the Internet will be able to use Freemed-YiRC. Work on Freemed-YiRC can be
followed (as well as DOWNLOADED FOR FREE) from the
Freemed-YiRC Webserver!
That is correct, Freemed-YiRC is being released under the GNU General Public
License (GNU GPL). What this means is YOU ARE FREE TO DOWNLOAD/USE/MODIFY/
AND REDISTRIBUTE Freemed-YiRC! The source code is included and if you
don't like how Freemed-YiRC works, or need to change it for your situation,
YOU CAN!. You are not limited by a restrictive license! And if you wish
to install it on 1 or 100 computers, you can! FREE OF LICENSE FEES! THERE ARE
NO LICENSE FEES! You are free to use and modify the software AS YOU WISH.
Why am I doing this? Because it needs to be done! I'm doing this primarily for
my company. However, I am also going to release this to the world, and I hope
it will make for better communication between YiRC (Youth in Residental Care)
agencies! I know that a lot of agencies don't use computers for much, due to
limited budgets. This is why Freemed-YiRC should work so well in a non-profit
setting!
