Heal the Wound
LHS Family and Youth Services' Heal the Wound program is located at its 13-acre campus complex, LHS Maumee Youth Center, located near Liberty Center, Ohio. Heal the Wound is a residential diversion program where non-violent youth with cognitive abilities may be placed as an alternative to detention pending successful completion of the fourteen-month treatment. Heal the Wound has its own self-contained six-bed unit on campus that is designated for use with youth, male and femals, ages 12 to 18 who have been identified as needing intervention to address behaviors related to sexual offending and abuse. All living, schooling, individual therapy, group therapy, and related classes will take place within the unit.
Heal the Wound is a sex-offender behavior specific program that utilizes a specific treatment technology. The key difference in the Heal the Wound treatment model is the approach. The program is not a correctional model and is not a program that approaches the problem as bad behavior. It approaches the obsession as damage that can be managed and treated but has to have constant care. The approach is geared toward helping the client with their wound management and helping them succeed. It is a cognitive behavioral approach, re-framing thoughts to help the client. The model is accepted by the client primarily because it is seen by them as a help, not an attack or control therapy. Polygraph tests will be used in the program and administered by a veteran polygraph expert. There is a fourteen-month aftercare program as well for those completing the initial fourteen-month program.

County Protective Service Agencies, Cluster Groups, Managed Care Companies and Courts who have contracts with LHS can place children and youth at the Emergency Program 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
